The gate

The pain outside the system

5 gates keep you from the best strategies. None about wealth or sophistication. All about infrastructure. The cost of standing outside compounds every day.
5 SECTIONS
The best-performing strategies in finance aren't hidden. They're just behind a door that was never designed for you to open. The top-performing crypto hedge fund strategies returned 30-80% in 2025. Read that number again. Now ask yourself: could you have accessed any of them? Not whether you could afford the risk. Whether the infrastructure between you and that return would have let you through.

Discovery

There is no directory. No index. No public listing of crypto hedge funds with verified performance data you can compare. In equities, you open a Bloomberg terminal and filter by strategy, return, drawdown, Sharpe ratio, AUM. You can compare 10,000 funds in an afternoon. In crypto? You hear about a fund from someone who knows someone. A Telegram group. A conference introduction. A friend of a friend. That's the discovery infrastructure for an industry managing billions. Word of mouth and group chats.

Would this be different in 1995?
Country clubs instead of Telegram groups. Otherwise identical.

Verification

Someone introduces you to a fund claiming 40% annual returns. How do you verify that? You ask for a track record. They send you a document. A PDF, obviously. It shows monthly returns going back three years. Clean, consistent, impressive. But who produced this document? The fund did. Who verified it? Nobody. You're doing due diligence on a self-portrait.
Would this be different in 1995?
Same problem. But now there are hundreds of crypto funds and almost no independent verification. It's actually worse.

Onboarding

You've found a fund. Now you discover the minimum. $500K. Maybe $1M. Not because the strategy requires it. A market-neutral algorithm doesn't care if you deploy $50K or $5M. The minimum exists because the fund can't afford to onboard you for less. You're not being excluded because of risk. You're being excluded because the onboarding infrastructure is so expensive that small allocators aren't worth the paperwork.
Would this be different in 1995?
The bar dropped from impossible to merely exclusive. Congratulations.

Geography

You're in the wrong country. The fund is domiciled in Cayman. It's registered to accept allocators from certain jurisdictions. Yours isn't one of them. Not because of sanctions or risk. Because the fund's lawyers charged $15K per country and ran out of budget after twelve. The fund doesn't care where you live. The infrastructure does.

Would this be different in 1995?
Same jurisdictional patchwork. Same accreditation barriers. Same lawyers charging the same fees.

Trust

You've cleared everything. Now you wire $500K to an account you've never seen, controlled by people you've met once, custodied by an entity you've never heard of. The entire relationship runs on trust. Not cryptographic proof. Not independent verification. Trust. The same technology humans have used to manage other people's money since the Medicis.
Would this be different in 1995?
This one actually hasn't changed since 1694.
The strategy itself is digital. It's an algorithm executing trades on an exchange. It doesn't know or care who the allocator is, where they live, or how much they're deploying. The gate isn't protecting you from the strategy. It's protecting the infrastructure from you.
The cost of waiting compounds. $200K returning 4% versus 35%. Year one gap: $62,000. Year three: $249,000. Year five: $658,000. The gates don't just keep you out. They charge you for standing outside.

5 gates keep you out. Discovery, verification, minimums, geography, trust.
